Sting & wife bring romance to the stage

Sting and his wife of nearly twenty years, Trudie Styler, will be taking their romance to the stage, recreating the love story of classical composer Robert Schumann and his pianist wife Clara in “Twin Spirits.’

“Twin Spirits” is a dramatized concert about the musician couple’s courtship retold through their letters to each other. Sting and Trudie read the respective parts while a six-piece ensemble plays Schumann’s music in the background. They first performed the musical dramatization at London’s Royal Opera House in 2007.

The revived piece will be staged at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles on Feb. 15. Don’t miss a chance to see Sting and his real-life leading lady bring one of music’s lovliest romances to life - get your Sting tickets today for “True Spirits.”

Sting, Larry King raise money for oil spill relief

Last night, Larry King held Disaster In The Gulf: How You Can Help, a celebrity telethon to raise money to respond to the BP Gulf Coast oil spill.

Not only did Sting perform live, but there were also appearances from today’s hottest stars: Justin Bieber, Cameron Diaz, Ke$ha, True Blood’s Sam Trammel, Lenny Kravitz, Kathy Griffin, Robert Redford, Tim McGraw and more.

Sting’s song “Fragile,” which he performed on the telethon, was dedicated to “all the people in the Gulf who have lost their livelihoods because of this terrible oil spill, and all the animals and birds we’re losing,” the singer said.

Sting’s World Tour & New Album

Sting is gearing up for his forthcoming world tour in support of his latest record, Symphonicities.  The announcement was paired with an intimate performance held at the infamous Abbey Road Studios.

The Abbey Road performance featured five songs spanning Sting’s whole career, and have been rearranged for orchestral play.  The performance was accompanied by The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, who will be joining Sting out on the road.

Sting first became interested in working with orchestras back in 2008 when he was invited to perform with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.  He then had the opportunity to also play with Philadelphia Orchestra.  Both collaborations became the inspiration for the upcoming tour and album,  “Symphonicities continues his restless exploration of the possibilities of music.” (Read More…)

Sting plays The Met

Sting will be highlighting his tour with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in very dramatic fashion, making his debut at New York City’s Metropolitan Opera House. That’s right, THE Met.

The two-night run, July 13 & 14, will allow Sting to reinterpret both his solo music and hits from the vast Police catalog with lush orchestration created specifically for this tour. Is there anything this incredible versatile and prolific musician can’t do? Apparently not.

Fortunately, the significance of the occasion is not lost on Sting. “The Metropolitan Opera has such a rich cultural history in supporting and celebrating a truly diverse range of artists,” he said. “It is both an honor and a thrill to have the opportunity to perform at this renowned landmark.”

Sting tickets for the Met and for all the stops on his tour are selling quickly (Red Rocks and the Hollywood Bowl shows are already sold out). Don’t miss your chance to witness this unique event!

Sting to tour with orchestra this summer

Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Sting, who was first known as the singer for the rock band, The Police, is taking a new approach to his solo tour this summer: an orchestra.

The premise of the tour is still based on some of Sting’s best songs, but they have been re-imagined to better fit within the scope of a symphony arrangement. The material will come from his time spent with The Police, as well as his later solo projects.

“I’m delighted by this new opportunity to tour with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and reinterpret the songs I’ve been playing for many years,” Sting said in a press release.

This summer tour with Sting and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra is being conducted by Maestro Steven Mercurio. Guitarist Dominic Miller, percussionist David Cossin, vocalist Jo Lawry and bassist Ira Coleman will also be joining the 45-piece orchestra.
